After attending college and graduate school in the United States, pianist Airin Efferin returned to her hometown and founded its first symphony orchestra, the Bandung Philharmonic. Efferin recruited her former Chicago-based professor, Robert Nordling, and violist Michael Hall as music and education directors, respectively. Now in its fourth season, the Bandung Philharmonic includes 50 musicians and performs internationally.
